Tourism is the fourth largest industry in Washington State, generating over $21 billion annually. The large world maps in the Hospitality and Tourism classroom are a go-to educational resource as students hone their knowledge of worldwide travel. This program prepares them for entry-level workforce positions with hotels, restaurants, caterers, event managers and transportations companies. Students do internships with related fields and can earn Certified Room Division Specialist credentials from the American Hotel Lodging Association, as well as air travel and world travel certifications.

TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY OF OUR LABOR DAY x5 FUNDRAISER! Hear from Cascadia Tech Academy Counselor, Ryan Hovde how these funds will be used to support students! Remember - ALL financial gifts will be matched through the end of TODAY!

Business Principles students are exploring how to source their required Cascadia Tech Business program uniforms. In the process, they are being exposed to a broad range of job categories, including design, supply chain and inventory management. Business students intern at a variety of local companies, including banks, hotels, government and other corporate offices, where they build their communication, project management and team building skills that are needed to successfully enter the work force.

Second-year students work alongside skilled construction tradespeople to build a single family home. Last year’s house is an 1,800 square foot, 3-bedroom, 2-½ bath home in Vancouver which was sold in the spring. This year’s 2nd-year students are now working on the program’s 46th house.

Students start out in the Construction Technology program learning the basics, like how to frame a wall, and soon find themselves completing the construction of quality 8x10 sheds. Need some extra storage space? Consider giving the school a call. The sheds can be delivered and set-up at your site (some conditions apply, including distance from our campus).

Our LABOR DAY x 5 (Days) fundraiser is LIVE NOW THROUGH FRIDAY SEPT 8TH! Hear from Cascadia Tech Director, Joan Huston, on how Cascadia Technical Academy is preparing students for bright futures! Remember, ALL donations through this Friday WILL BE MATCHED!!!

During this Labor Day week, we are honored to support trade, technical and skilled service occupations that are the foundation of our community.

LABOR DAY x 5 (Days) celebrates the Trades, and our students' efforts to enter the work force. First year students work with mannequin heads, while second year students practice on each other, and then work with paying customers. Second year students who have completed their service hours may sit for the State Board Examination for Hair Design or Cosmetology.

Did you know that our Cosmetology program operates a full-service salon that is open to the public? Services include cuts, perms, braids, manicures, facials and facial waxing, and are performed under a licensed instructor’s supervision. Students participate in managing the salon and learn how to market their expertise in order to build a clientele.

Our LABOR DAY x 5 (Days) fundraiser runs this week! Fire Science students are embedded in Clark County Fire District No. 3 in Brush Prairie or No. 6 in Vancouver, or the Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue in Battle Ground. Working alongside firefighters at these stations, the cadets participate in training fires where they might need to climb multi-story ladders for a rescue; don respirators to search through pitch black, smoke filled buildings; select and set up the right size fire hose, or apply advanced first aid and CPR. Never a dull moment in this real-world classroom.

Today – and for the rest of the workweek – is our LABOR DAY x 5 fundraising drive. We hope you'll support our students who are working hard to gain the technical, leadership and softskills to enter the workforce. To donate, visit https://cascadiatechnicalacademyfoundation.kindful.com/.

Wonder what to do with electronics that have seen their glory years come and go? Each spring the ITS3 program hosts an E-Waste Recycling community service event. Donations are disassembled so that individual parts can be evaluated and, if possible, reused. What can’t be, is disposed of safely. Some of the donated electronics take on a new life as educational tools for the ITS3 students.

Student Mia Autumn took a Bronze Medal in Information Technology Services at the 2023 National SkillsUSA competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Congratulations Mia!

Preview of LABOR DAY x 5 (Days): A Workweek-long Fundraiser to support students preparing to enter the work force. The IT help desk at Cascadia Tech Academy is staffed by second year students in our Information Technology Systems, Service and Security program. This experience gives our students invaluable real-world experience as they work on professional certifications for network security cybersecurity, cloud computing and device configuration and management.
