Students in our Fashion Design program learn basic illustration and drawing skills, designing and making clothing, portfolio development, customer service and business practices, and can earn Washington State certifications in Apparel Design & Promotion and Fashion Design Merchandising. Many graduates of our program continue their education in college programs, while others enter the workforce in retail sales, marketing and merchandising with the dream of one day developing their own line of apparels.

The start of our 2023-2024 school year is delayed, but in the Cascadia Tech spirit of always moving purposefully towards our goals, we're continuing the lead up to our Labor Day x 5 (DAYS) campaign.

Lead up to LABOR DAY x 5: A Workweek Fundraiser to support students preparing to enter the work force. Our one-year Applied Medical Science and two-year Medical Assisting programs give students a foundation for careers in the healthcare industry. They participate in clinical rotations at nearby skilled nursing and healthcare facilities. At the end of the year, AMS students are qualified to take the test for the Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant certificate. At the end of their second year, Medical Assisting students are qualified to sit for the Medical Assisting Certification.

In celebration of labor: Our Labor Day x 5 (Days) -- a workweek-long fundraiser starting Sept 4th. The next time you are hankering for a delicious breakfast or lunch or thinking about caterers for a private event, check out our Culinary, Baking and Pastry Arts program’s Touch of Class full-service restaurant. Under the direction of Chef Andrew McColley, students learn all aspects of cooking, baking, and “front of the house” service, and earn Fundamentals Cook and Pastry Cook certifications from the American Culinary Federation.

Teaching Academy is a new program that prepares students with skills and knowledge to become Washington State Certified Para Educators. Students work on-site at an elementary school, with opportunities for bilingual teaching. Students can earn college credits towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. The program serves high school juniors and seniors from Kalama, La Center, Ridgefield and Woodland.

In celebration of labor: Our Labor Day x 5 (Days) -- a workweek-long fundraiser starting Sept 4th. Our Criminal Justice students work alongside professionals in many different public service agencies, including police departments, prosecuting attorneys’ offices, local and state courts, state correctional facilities and federal law enforcement agencies. Students typically continue their education for careers in law, state corrections, federal investigations and enforcement agencies. The students direct traffic on our campus during bus drop offs and pickups, and they provide traffic management at public and private events as a service to our community.

To help our Diesel Technology students make wise money decisions after graduation, we recently hosted a pilot project that brought in a team from @Johnson Bixby, a Vancouver-based financial planning firm, for a financial literacy workshop. Students took classroom instruction into the truck bay where one of the activities was putting together a pie chart of how they would allocate their expenses. They quickly learned it’s no easy task even when you are making good money! The goal is to provide financial literacy to all of our programs.

Lead up to LABOR DAY x 5 (Days): A Workweek-long Fundraiser to support students preparing to enter the work force. Students in Diesel Tech are learning in-demand skills for a broad range of industries that depend on diesel engines, including trucks, trains, boats, and barges. With an ASE certification and heavy equipment specialization, our students routinely receive job offers of more than $30 per hour immediately after high school.

Preview of LABOR DAY x 5 (Days): A Workweek Fundraiser to support students preparing to enter the work force. Our Aviation Technology program is equipped with a fleet of Cessnas, flight simulators, unmanned aircraft systems (aka drones) and a variety of engine types to support hands-on aviation mechanics training. Our program prepares students for careers as commercial and military pilot, aerospace engineers, air traffic controllers, and aircraft maintenance technicians.

In celebration of labor: Our Labor Day x 5 (Days) -- a workweek-long fundraiser starting Sept 4th. Pre-Engineering Design Technology program students live by the saying, “If you can dream it, you can build it.” Students are immersed in the technology that can make that happen: from drafting, designing, solid modeling, to CNC programming. Our facilities include a network computer lab, robotics lab, 3D printers, CNC mills and lathe, and much more!

Dental student, now alumna, Shahd Shilbayeh placed eighth in the International Dental Science Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) competition that was held in Houston, TX in June, after placing second in the State of Washington HOSA competition. Congratulations Shahd!

Lead up to LABOR DAY x 5 (Days): A Workweek Fundraiser to support students preparing to enter the work force. Know someone who doesn’t have dental insurance, but needs dental care? Tell them about our Dental program’s on-campus clinic. Students work alongside community-minded volunteer dentists to provide a full array of services including dental exams, x-rays, fillings, tooth removals, cleanings, sealants and whitenings at 25% of customary charges.

Preview of LABOR DAY x 5 (Days): A Workweek-long Fundraiser that celebrates the Trades, and our students' preparation to enter the work force. Our Automotive Technology program is recognized as the top high school automotive training course in the region. Students intern at leading car dealerships and are ready to enter the work force immediately after high school. Our instructors are ASE Certified Master Technicians and our program is accredited by the ASE Education Foundation.
